In 2026, Tokyo will host the first-ever Ghost in the Shell exhibition spanning all anime adaptations!

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the 1995 theatrical anime GHOST IN THE SHELL, a large-scale Ghost in the Shell exhibition—the first to span the entire series—has been confirmed for Tokyo in 2026! Alongside this announcement, a teaser visual for the exhibition has also been revealed. The visual features an original animation cel of Motoko Kusanagi from GHOST IN THE SHELL, interwoven with iconic scenes from various anime adaptations, creating a striking design.

A cryptic countdown began on the official social media channels on February 1, sparking speculation among fans. With the unveiling of this exhibition, the mystery has finally been solved.

The exhibition will comprehensively cover all anime adaptations of Ghost in the Shell, beginning with Shirow Masamune’s original manga, the 1995 theatrical film directed by Mamoru Oshii, the 2002 TV anime Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the 2004 film Innocence (which marked its 20th anniversary last year), the 2013 OVA Ghost in the Shell: Arise directed by Kazuchika Kise, the 2020 Netflix anime Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 co-directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, and the brand-new TV anime set to air in 2026, produced by Science SARU. This marks the first-ever exhibition to comprehensively showcase the full 30-year history of Ghost in the Shell anime adaptations.

The event is being produced with full cooperation from Production I.G, the studio behind much of the franchise’s animation, as well as Science SARU, the studio handling the upcoming 2026 anime. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the franchise, this exhibition promises to be a must-see.

With Ghost in the Shell having received worldwide acclaim, the exhibition is expected to attract significant attention both in Japan and abroad. Further updates will be shared via the official global website and social media channels, so stay tuned.
