In the late 1980s, “Strings Of Life” was released from Detroit to the world, and was a masterpiece that heralded the dawn of a new era. He has released masterpieces such as “Nudo Photo,” “The Beginning,” “Icon,” and “Beyond The Dance” under the name Rhythim Is Rhythim on his own label [TRANSMAT], which still shine brightly to this day, and has been a member of Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson, and others. He has had a profound influence on the world dance music scene as the originator of Detroit techno along with Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. Influenced by Chicago house legend DJ Ron Hardy and Godfather Of House Frankie Knuckles, his innovative DJ play established at the Music Institute is one-of-a-kind. He radiates a timeless and universal brilliance that has earned him a huge following not only among techno fans, but also among all dance music fans.

In 2010, he released his first mix CD in 13 years. The CD, titled “MIXED BY DERRICK MAY X AIR,” was a huge sensation both in Japan and abroad. The mix, which was recorded live in the studio, is a condensed version of his entire DJ career. The “hot and simmering soul,” the “fascinating story with various developments,” the “brilliant mixing technique” etc., are the unique world that only a genius DJ can create. There is a unique world out there that only a genius DJ can create. There is an overwhelming power that seems to pour all of his passion for music and his fans into his music, and it is so strong that it takes the listener to another dimension. Derrick May has traveled all over the world, but he loves playing in Japan the most, and he truly cares about his Japanese fans.

In 2013, he released a compilation CD “TRANSMAT 4-BEYOND THE DANCE” on his own label TRANSMAT. In the past few years, TRANSMAT has also released excellent works by HIROSHI WATANABE, KARIIM SAHRAOUI, AZIMUTE, DEEP’A & BIRI, and FRANCESCO TRISTANO. We are sure that he will impress us again with his excellent performance in Japan this time.

Takkyu Ishino

In 1998, he played in front of 1.5 million people at the Final Gathering of “Love Parade”, the world’s largest techno festival held in Berlin. In July 2012, he released “WIRE COMPILATION”, a collection of tracks he contributed to WIRE COMPILATION from 1999 to 2011. In December 2015, he remixed “Tutti Frutti”, a single cut from New Order’s new album “Music Complete”. In December 2015, he was the only Japanese artist in charge of the remix. Then in August 2016, he released his solo album “LUNATIQUE,” his first solo album in 6 years since his last album, and a remix album “EUQITANUL” in December.

On December 27, 2017, he released his latest solo album “ACID TEKNO DISKO BEATz,” his first in a year and four months, and on January 24, 2018, he released “Takkyu Ishino Works 1983-2017” an 8-disc set of his previous solo work. He is currently active as a DJ/producer and remixer.

The band has garnered attention for its electronic-based sound, Ikegai’s beautiful high tone voice on vocals, and aggressive live performances including video production by Yamada, who also works as a video artist.

In 2016, after a five-stop European tour that included London’s historic shop ROUGH TRADE and an appearance on the Fuji Rock Festival’s “Rookie A Go Go” stage, they released their debut album “Flesh and Blood” in November. The following year, in 2017, they performed on the Red Murquee stage at Fuji Rock Festival, and supported overseas artists such as Warpaint, Mount Kimbie, and alt-J on their Japan tour. In March 2018, they released their second album, “Human” which challenged them to push their identity further and embody it as something clearer and stronger. Immediately after that, they appeared at SXSW, and went on to perform at festivals in France, an Asian tour that took them to Korea and China, and SUMMER SONIC, among others. In September of the same year, the single “TAO” was released. Through both the song and music video, it proved that yahyel’s artistic expression had entered a completely new dimension. Also in November, yahyel released “Ikiroro” a collaboration with Wednesday’s Campanella, and in 2019 they once again performed at SXSW, where they was featured in numerous international media outlets, including NPR in the US and CRASH Magazine in the UK.

After a sudden period of silence following their one-man live concert in 2020, which was held in the midst of a pandemic, yahyel has been repeatedly making secret gestures toward a new phase, as if in response to a world trying to rise from the euphoria of sensation and chaos.
