Kodansha Ltd. launches a new content project on the Ghost in the Shell Official YouTube Channel: the music live series “DEEP DIVE: online -GHOST IN THE SHELL-.” The first featured artist is WONK, and the premiere is set for Saturday, April 19 at 9:00 PM (JST).
The music live project “DEEP DIVE: online -GHOST IN THE SHELL-” is a new initiative derived from “DEEP DIVE in sync with GHOST IN THE SHELL,” a music event held in May last year. That event featured uniquely original artists reinterpreting the world of GHOST IN THE SHELL through live performances, DJ sets, and VR content.
This online project was launched to bring the immersive experience of the physical event to a wider audience. Through collaborations with various artists, it offers a multifaceted exploration of the universe of Ghost in the Shell—both the original manga by Shirow Masamune and its anime adaptations—presenting it from fresh and diverse creative perspectives.
Moving forward, the project is scheduled to continue as a regular series on the Ghost in the Shell Official YouTube Channel. A teaser video has already been released, offering a glimpse of WONK’s performance, set against a backdrop of city nightscapes and iconic Ghost in the Shell visuals—a must-see for fans.
The film captures a seamless fusion of music and the world of Ghost in the Shell, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in its unique atmosphere and artistic vision.

【WONK Profile】
Experimental Soul Band
WONK is a four-member experimental soul band consisting of Ko Arata (drums, leader), Kento Nagatsuka (vocals), Kan Inoue (bass), and Fumitake Ezaki (keyboard). Formed in 2013, they made their debut with their first album Sphere in 2016, leaving a bold and innovative impression with a sound that resonates with global jazz and soul scenes.
To date, they have released four full-length albums and performed extensively—from major music festivals across Japan to shows overseas. Known for their deep connections with international artists, they have collaborated with the likes of José James and Oscar Jerome.
In November 2024, they released Shades of, their first album in four years, featuring guest appearances by Bilal, T3, K-Natural, BewhY, and Toshinobu Kubota. In March 2025, they performed at “Megaport Festival,” one of Taiwan’s most talked-about music events. As a bridge between Tokyo, Asia, and the global music scene, WONK continues to expand its influence on an international scale.
