As part of the exhibition ‘The Exhibition of The World of Shirow Masamune -“The Ghost in the Shell” and The Path of Creation-,’ a relay-style presentation event titled “20 Rapid-Fire Talks on Shirow Masamune” will be held. The event features 20 creators and researchers who have drawn strong inspiration from Shirow Masamune, each delivering a 10-minute presentation about their favorite aspect of his work.

 

Topics covered in the talks will range from Shirow’s pioneering depictions of technology and his sharp insights into the information society, to the unmatched techniques found in his manga and illustrations. Each speaker will offer their own unique perspective, giving the audience a richer appreciation of Shirow’s multifaceted creative world. This event is planned and hosted by the editorial team behind the ongoing media project “Ghost in the Shell M.M.A. – Messed Mesh Ambitions” on the official global Ghost in the Shell website.

Ghost in the Shell M.M.A. – Messed Mesh Ambitions_ is a media project that inherits and reinterprets the pioneering questions raised throughout the Ghost in the Shell series. It explores diverse contemporary themes through thought and dialogue. To date, five special features have been released on the official Ghost in the Shell global site, focusing on themes such as “Eastern Thought,” “Outlaws,” “Boundaries,” “Decentralization,” and “Wandering.” These discussions have also been compiled in the publication Ghost in the Shell: MESSED MESH AMBITIONS (Kodansha, 2025), released alongside the exhibition.
