‘The Exhibition of The World of Shirow Masamune -“The Ghost in the Shell” and The Path of Creation-‘ — Exhibition Artbook to Be Released on Friday, April 11, 2025!

Coinciding with Masamune Shirow’s very first exhibition, ‘The Exhibition of The World of Shirow Masamune -“The Ghost in the Shell” and The Path of Creation-,‘ opening on Saturday, April 12 at the Setagaya Literary Museum, an official exhibition artbook will be released by Kodansha on Friday, April 11, 2025.

 

This artbook features over 260 carefully selected color illustrations from a vast collection of both analog and digital works prepared by the artist specifically for this exhibition. It covers Shirow’s 40+ years of artistic achievements, including early works such as Black Magic, his breakout hit Appleseed, his iconic The Ghost in the Shell, as well as Dominion, Orion, and illustrations for novels and video games. Some illustrations included in the book will not be exhibited at the venue.

To fully appreciate Shirow’s intricate and luminous artwork, the book is presented in a large A4 variant size. It also includes a special fold-out illustration originally featured in Soji Shimada’s novel Classical Fantasy Within, reproduced across three to four large gatefold pages to showcase every fine detail.

 

Housed in a specially designed cover featuring a newly drawn illustration by Shirow Masamune himself, this is the official artbook of the exhibition.
