A Landmark of Cyberpunk Sci Fi|Title Logo for New TV Animation The Ghost in the Shell Designed by Artist Hajime Sorayama Revealed!

Since its debut in 1989 as a manga by Shirow Masamune in Young Magazine Kaizokuban (published by Kodansha), the GHOST IN THE SHELL franchise has continued to captivate audiences worldwide through a wide range of works—including Mamoru Oshii’s iconic 1995 animated film, various anime adaptations, and even a Hollywood live-action movie.
We are pleased to announce the reveal of the title logo for the upcoming TV anime The Ghost in the Shell, scheduled to air in 2026. The logo was designed by the legendary artist Hajime Sorayama, renowned in Japan and around the world for his work exploring the beauty of the human body and machines.

This announcement was made at the “THE GHOST IN THE SHELL × Science SARU: New Animation Project Panel,” held during Anime Expo 2025, currently taking place in Los Angeles, USA.
To mark the reveal, a special comment from Hajime Sorayama has also been shared:
“I designed this with my own sense of respect and love for Shirow Masamune, as this new animation is once again based on the original manga. While staying true to the concept of Ghost in the Shell, I also infused it with my own aesthetic. I believe I was able to show that even a familiar logo can be reborn with the right ideas and concepts.”
Additionally, during the same panel, new details were unveiled about the first-ever large-scale exhibition covering all Ghost in the Shell anime series: “GHOST IN THE SHELL EXHIBITION: Ghost and the Shell.”
The new TV anime “THE GHOST IN THE SHELL” will be directed by Mokochan, making her directorial debut after having served as assistant director on Dandadan and contributed to numerous titles at Science SARU. The series composition and screenplay are helmed by Toh EnJoe, a renowned science fiction author known for his work on Godzilla Singular Point. Character design and chief animation direction will be handled by Shuhei Handa, known for his work on the Netflix series Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and the anime Spriggan.
Produced by the acclaimed studio Science SARU, whose portfolio includes the Golden Globe-nominated film INU-OH, the Shanghai International Film Festival award-winning The Colors Within, and the hit anime Dandadan, the series promises to deliver a fresh, globally resonant take on the cyberpunk classic.
