”Ghost in the Shell” Official Global Site Launches!

“Ghost in the Shell,” a sci-fi series originally serialized by manga artist Shirow Masamune in the special issue “Young Magazine Pirate Edition” (Kodansha) in 1989, has spread its influence worldwide with various adaptations, including the 1995 anime film “GHOST IN THE SHELL” directed by Mamoru Oshii, animation series, and a Hollywood live-action movie. As a proud example of Japanese cyberpunk, it has continued to surprise and inspire audiences around the globe.

 

Today, on October 31, 2023, we are excited to announce the launch of the official global website for “Ghost in the Shell,” a comprehensive platform that brings together all the works in the expanding franchise. The site compiles information on everything from the original manga to the latest full 3D CGI animation “Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045,” and offers content in both Japanese and English to reach a global audience.

 

The homepage of the site features a new illustration of Motoko Kusanagi, the main character of “Ghost in the Shell,” drawn by Shirow Masamune himself. In addition, the site includes a special long interview discussing the production of “Ghost in the Shell,” which is one of the first of its kind.

 

Ahead of the official site’s launch, the official “Ghost in the Shell” accounts on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram were also opened on August 22, 2023. Be sure to check them out as well.
