Colonel Tonoda: Kenichi Ogata [Comment]

“To be honest, my first reaction was, ‘I’ve gotten myself involved in something truly intense.’ While it is a drama set in a creative near-future society, it is quite complex—no matter how many times I read the script, it remained challenging to fully grasp!

Colonel Tonoda was apparently a sharp officer in the intelligence division during the war. However, after rising to the rank of colonel, he fell into a lazy routine, resulting in a body full of cholesterol, and ended up being disliked even by maid robots. After playing his favorite game of golf, covered in greasy sweat, he orders Tomriande to wipe him off—only to be rejected, and then for some reason, the maid robot ends up dying. I certainly wouldn’t want to become the kind of human that even robots dislike!

Although the story is intricate, I hope all the viewers thoroughly enjoy the show.”

President of Hanka Precision: Masashi Ebara [Comment]

“Is this truly our modern reality!? Set against a world that humanity is only now heading toward, Ghost in the Shell was really way ahead of its time! I was simply thrilled to be invited to participate in such a cutting-edge title.

My role is the President of Hanka Precision! Even before reading the script, I assumed he’d be a thoroughly shady, villainous guy. But once I got the script and checked the rehearsal video… ??? Wait, what!? All I can see is a box! As much as the character’s essence might be condensed into it, a box is still a box! In the face of such surrealism and Kafkaesque ambiguity, how was I supposed to play a box? I struggled and fought on set just to make its presence felt—so how did ‘me as a box’ turn out in the end?

Whether I managed to strike a blow in the world of Ghost in the Shell or not, please stay tuned and find out!”
