Ghost in the Shell The Exhibition: GHOST IN THE SHEL × HATRA Collection
- Overview
- The oversized Jacquard tapestry (180 cm × 135 cm) reconstructs the key visual from GHOST IN THE SHELL / Ghost in the Shell (1995) through color separation and an intricate woven structure. Using a Jacquard loom, often regarded as a precursor to modern computing, the image is rendered by weaving six primary-colored yarns into a highly detailed composition.
The T-shirt and hoodie feature the iconic title logo from Mamoru Oshii’s GHOST IN THE SHELL / Ghost in the Shell (1995), prominently placed on the front. The experimental graphic design, created by Albatro Design, uses layers of fine dots that evoke an ocean of information, causing the typography to glow and appear as though it is emanating from the body.
The Jacquard sweater and Jacquard dress translate background artwork from GHOST IN THE SHELL / Ghost in the Shell (1995) into knit form. Inspired by the film’s memorable final scene, marked by the line “The net is vast and infinite,” the designs reconstruct a landscape where endlessly expanding networks and towering skyscrapers overlap, achieved through color separation and intricate knitting techniques.
