Ghost in the Shell The Exhibition: YOYOYO × Ghost in the Shell “Tachikoma Nabeshima-yaki”

  • Overview
  • This work is a porcelain craft in which tradition and innovation resonate, created through the first-ever collaboration between two leading kilns from Saga Prefecture: Hataman Touen, the renowned Nabeshima-yaki kiln that has served as an official kiln of the Nabeshima Domain since the Edo period, producing presentation wares for the shogunate and inheriting over 350 years of history and traditional beauty; and 224porcelain, a studio based in Hizen Yoshida that pursues contemporary sensibilities and innovation, opening new possibilities for porcelain expression.

The history and culture of one of Japan’s foremost ceramic regions—along with its beautiful landscapes, natural materials, and color palettes—are embodied in Tachikoma through techniques handed down to the present day.
