INNOCENCE
Mamoru Oshii once again takes the director’s chair for the sequel to the 1995 theatrical animated film “Ghost in the Shell.” Set in a world where Motoko Kusanagi has merged with the Puppet Master and left Section 9, the film aims for the ultimate fusion of traditional hand-drawn animation and CG expression. With the added expertise of Skywalker Sound in sound design, this endeavor has led to an elevated global standard of quality. As Oshii said, the film aimed to use high-quality animation that would stand the test of time. The film was also the first Japanese animation to be nominated in the Competition category of the Cannes Film Festival, which stands as evidence of the film’s exceptional quality.
