New Anime Artwork & Sorayama × Ghost in the Shell “Puppet Master” Debut! New Merch Info Unveiled

The Ghost in the Shell Exhibition Committee is pleased to announce that the Kansai touring exhibition of “Ghost in the Shell” will be held from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, August 30 at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art (Gallery Wing, 3rd Floor Gallery).
While carrying over the highlights of the Tokyo exhibition, this Kansai tour will offer fresh discoveries unique to the region. These include the addition of the latest archives from the new anime series “THE GHOST IN THE SHELL” (premiering Tuesday, July 7, 2026), as well as the exclusive first-ever display of “The Puppet Master,” the second collaboration statue with contemporary artist Hajime Sorayama.
Furthermore, an additional lineup of collaboration merchandise to be sold at the Kansai venue has been unveiled. Items previously sold at the Tokyo venue will also make a return. We invite you to visit the venue and explore this incredible selection.
[NEW] Total Exhibition Refresh Mid-Run! Rare “Analog Key Animations” from Unreleased Episodes 6 & 7 on Special Display in the Second Half!
The additional archive exhibition for the new anime series “THE GHOST IN THE SHELL” (premiering Tuesday, July 7) will maximize its limited space by swapping out exhibits to sync with the TV broadcast timeline. This creates a one-of-a-kind, real-time exhibition experience where visitors can immerse themselves in the vibe of the latest episodes right as they happen.
[Phase 1] Friday, July 17 – Thursday, August 6: Fastest-ever display of production materials from Episodes 1–3!
By the Kansai opening on July 17, the gallery will showcase materials from the already-aired Episodes 1 and 2, along with an exclusive sneak peek at materials from Episode 3 right before its broadcast. It will also feature pre-production materials that served as the foundational direction for the series, offering a deep dive into the story’s beginnings ahead of anyone else.
[Phase 2] Friday, August 7 onwards: A complete refresh featuring the latest from Episodes 4–5, plus unreleased materials from Episodes 6–7!
The exhibition will undergo a full renewal after closing on Thursday, August 6. For the second half, the content will switch to production materials from the newly aired Episodes 4 and 5. Furthermore, ahead of the TV broadcast, production materials for the yet-unreleased Episodes 6 and 7 will make their early debut. Phase 2 will also include a rare selection of hand-drawn (analog) key animations still utilized in modern anime production. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the behind-the-scenes fusion of digital and hand-drawn artistry at the venue before it hits the screen!

[NEW] Hajime Sorayama × “Ghost in the Shell” 2nd Collab Statue “The Puppet Master” Makes Its Exhibition Debut!

At the Tokyo exhibition, “Sexy Robot_The Ghost in the Shell type 1″—a collaboration statue created by contemporary artist Hajime Sorayama, modeled after the protagonist Motoko Kusanagi from “Ghost in the Shell” (Original Comic)—generated massive acclaim.
For the Kansai touring exhibition, the sculptural artwork “Sexy Robot_The Ghost in the Shell type 2,” newly modeled after “The Puppet Master,” will be showcased for the very first time within a “Ghost in the Shell” exhibition.
In this work, Hajime Sorayama reinterprets “The Puppet Master” from the original “Ghost in the Shell” comic through his unique artistic lens, centering the piece around the concept of a “future body.” The textures, rendered through materials such as aluminum, ABS resin, and silver mirror plating, blur the boundaries between the human body and machinery, questioning the possibilities of the physical form in the future. Furthermore, a cold, monolithic stainless-steel octagonal box standing 280 cm tall provides a striking visual contrast to the organic silhouette of the figure.
[NEW] New Kansai-Exclusive Collaboration Goods
An exciting additional lineup of collaboration merchandise, spanning apparel, art pieces, and more, will join the “Ghost in the Shell” exhibition. Items previously sold at the Tokyo venue will also make a return, so we invite you to visit the venue and secure your favorite exclusive items!
