The Ghost in the Shell Unveils Main Cast! 4th Key Visual, 6th PV, Episode 1 End Card & Episode Visual Released

Ever since Shirow Masamune published the original manga in Young Magazine Zōkan: Kaizokuban (Kodansha) in 1989, the Ghost in the Shell series has continued to surprise and inspire audiences worldwide, expanding into a vast universe of media including Mamoru Oshii’s masterpiece film GHOST IN THE SHELL (1995), TV anime series, and a live-action Hollywood adaptation. The latest TV anime series, THE GHOST IN THE SHELL, officially premiered yesterday, Tuesday, July 7, 2026. It will air every Tuesday at 11:00 PM on the Kansai TV and Fuji TV network during the “Hianibar!!” programming block.
To coincide with the broadcast, the main voice cast has finally been unveiled. The iconic protagonist and full-body cyborg, Motoko Kusanagi, is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto, reprising her celebrated role from the Ghost in the Shell ARISE series.

Alongside this announcement, the 6th promotional video featuring the characters’ voices has been released. This latest PV delivers a definitive glimpse into the series’ direction, marking the highly anticipated debut of the cast’s performances, led by Motoko Kusanagi.

Furthermore, the 4th key visual, newly illustrated by character designer and chief animation director Shuhei Handa, has been revealed. This stunning visual showcases Motoko Kusanagi and the members of Public Security Section 9, alongside the mysterious hacker known as “The Puppet Master”—a pivotal figure in the story—and an array of characters, perfectly embodying this grand vision of “next-generation cyberpunk action.”
The end card for Episode 1 features a brand-new, custom illustration by Yoji Shinkawa.
Best known for his iconic character, mechanic, and background concept art for Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear series and DEATH STRANDING, Shinkawa currently serves as the Art Director for KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. His breathtaking, newly unveiled piece serves as a magnificent end card, adding an extra layer of brilliance to the series’ grand premiere.

This special initiative involves extracting the unique concept and theme of each individual episode to design and release a distinct alternative poster for every single broadcast.
To coincide with the weekly broadcast and streaming schedule, this project will approach the series through innovative graphic expressions that push the boundaries of traditional animation art. By doing so, it aims to deliver the profound and intricate worldview of the series from a multitude of diverse perspectives.
